New Flexible Protective Coating for Printed Smart Textiles

In the field of food packaging, addition exfoliated layered silicates in polymers has been established to improve polymers’ gas barrier properties. Using these as coatings protect smart textiles from oxidation and corrosion while maintaining their textile properties should significantly extend lifetime promote market penetration. The aim this study was print new polymer dispersions containing screen-printed conductive structures, test resulting samples. For this, appropriate printing parameters were determined by statistical design experiments. According results, structures printed protected with selected coating. abrasion resistance continuity protective layer samples then measured. A continuous coating approximately 70–80 µm thickness applied on a structure. showed very high (unchanged 85,000 cycles) remaining flexible presenting lower water vapor permeability (<2.5 g/m² d) than commonly used field.
